Sourcing on the internet: Examining the relations among different phases of online inquiry

This study examined students’ engagement in sourcing throughout online inquiry, that is, when they specified the information need, formulated search queries, evaluated online texts, and composed a written product. Participants were 167 upper secondary school students. Students completed an online inquiry task in a restricted online environment that utilized authentic online texts. Students’ prior topic knowledge and reading fluency was measured and controlled for in the analysis. La investigación que aquí se resume está centrada en el arte y su historia dentro de la educación primaria ya que se considera esta materia como clave para desvelar la mirada de los niños hacia el mundo que les rodea y así puedan aprender a descodificarlo. Desde el inicio de la investigación, se ha intuido que todavía no tenemos ninguna teoría del conocimiento que nos explique por qué los mismos niños pueden aprender entusiasmados algo y no querer aprender otra cosa. La investigación quería encontrar y aislar algunos de los factores que contribuyen al aprendizaje centrándose en las diferencias en el método de enseñanza como factor clave.

An evaluation of the efficiency of French higher education: the case of scientific preparatory classes

Language learning strategies and teaching practices in adult L2 education : The case of Swedish for Immigrants

This article highlights the use and co-construction of language learning strategies (LLS) in second language education for adults with short previous education. In a case study, we explore how LLS are used and co-constructed by one student and one teacher. The data for the article was created in an action research programme comprising two Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) schools, and the methodology used was classroom observation based in linguistic ethnography. The aim of this chapter is to provide the theoretical background for the concept of pronunciation, its pedagogical aspects, and selected factors affecting its acquisition. In the following section an array of definitions of pronunciation will be presented in order to provide a broad perspective. This will be followed by a diachronic overview of approaches to pronunciation teaching and learning, in order to present the pedagogical background. A Survey of University Students’ Knowledge of Vocabulary Learning Strategies and Influential Factors in Middle East

In this study, the most and the least common vocabulary learning strategies was explored among Eastern Mediterranean University international students. Besides, the role of personal factors such as gender and English proficiency level of students were considered. After distributing the questionnaire, the data were analyzed applying t-test and ANOVA.
